A Private Pilot Licence – Helicopter is the ideal pathway for people who want to fly helicopters recreationally, operate their own helicopter, travel privately with passengers, or build a strong foundation before progressing towards a Commercial Pilot Licence.
Training is conducted from Moorabbin Airport and combines practical helicopter flying with the aeronautical knowledge and decision-making skills required to operate safely and confidently as a private pilot.
What You Will Learn
Your training progressively develops the skills required to operate a helicopter safely and independently, including:
Students must meet the applicable CASA licensing, aeronautical experience, theory, medical and flight-test requirements.
The amount of training required varies between students and may also depend on previous aviation experience. Existing aeroplane or helicopter pilots may be eligible for recognition of previous experience or a different training pathway.
Training Aircraft
Our primary training aircraft are the Hughes/Schweizer 300 and Robinson R44.
This provides students with the opportunity to develop strong fundamental helicopter handling skills while also allowing training to be tailored to their future flying objectives.
Additional aircraft training may also be available as students progress.
